Featuring clothing that integrates hand-painted silks, and jewelry hand-cast in sterling silver, Crystal Prisms is inspired by LA's psychedelic music scene, modern-day witchcraft, and the immense power found in the conscious embracing of the space between light and dark.
"Experiencing a rebirth has been the catalyst for my inception of these designs," Michelle explains. "The recent realization of my inner self reminded me of my desire and necessity, as first and artist and second a designer, to create pieces that focus equally on both the process of bringing them to life as well as crafting eye-catching and original fashions. I want to present my work more as art rather than products, giving wearers a feeling a uniqueness and a sense of pride in representing an independent artisan within the realm of their own personal style."
The Crystal Prisms fashion show will be presented in a musical performance at the late April art opening, and pieces will remain on display until the closing party on May 5. Ancient Future is a week-long interactive art exhibition showcasing the unique talents and creative works of Los Angeles natives Troy V., Gino Perez, Harrison Roberts, and Ned Casual, and a handful of their rather interesting friends. Spanning a wide array of mediums, this eclectic mix of artists offers a truly original and organic cultural contribution to the Universe and all inhabitants capable of appreciating such manifestation of one's self-expression.
Hailing from Chicago, Michelle Rose migrated to Los Angeles in 2007 and started her clothing & accessory line, her third business to date, while still working in the fashion industry. Now armed with the experience she needed and the talent bubbling within herself, Michelle is embarking on a challenging new path toward the satisfaction that all artists strive for - the ability to shape their own beauty and reality amid the broad scope of modern consumerism. Michelle's goals include breaking norms within the fashion industry and the world at large, and maintaining a small business based around quality and longevity.
Aside from designing clothing and jewelry, Michelle is also currently working with several LA bands to contribute backing vocals, and is hoping to put together a band to perform her own material within the next few months.
Michelle's constant sources of inspiration include: Sixties culture, futurism, rock 'n' roll, kitsch & the everyday, uniforms, youth & childhood, science & mathematics, the city, technology & robots, all-powerful nature, the occult & the supernatural, space, love, and happiness.
